Educational background is an educational institution that has been attended by someone. This study aims to determine and describe the influence of teacher educational background on professional competence, which is analyzed based on 3 indicators, namely, knowledge of learning content and how to teach it, characteristics of students and how to teach it, and curriculum and how to use it. This study uses a mixed method with a quantitative and qualitative approach (explanatory sequential). The subjects in this study were ten teachers at SDS IT Ibu Harapan Bengkalis. Data collection techniques include distributing questionnaires to the principal, interviews, and direct observation of teachers during the implementation of learning. the results of the study indicate that in general teachers with a teaching and non-teaching educational background are in the professional category. And in each professional competency indicator in the questionnaire, 70% of teachers were in the professional category, 10% of teachers were in the very professional category, and 20% of teachers were in the less professional category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that teachers at SDS IT Ibu Harapan Bengkalis are in the professional category, although there are 20% of teachers whose learning process still needs to be improved.
