This research aims to develop and produce a digital-based formative
assessment product that can be accessed by students through their respective
smartphones by utilizing the Quizizz platform. The development of this assessment
is intended to increase the learning interest of Grade IX students at SMP Negeri 1
Mandau in the Integrated Social Studies (IPS Terpadu) subject. This study used
the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE development
model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE).
The assessment development process begins with the analysis stage to
identify the need for engaging and interactive learning assessments. Based on the
results of interviews with the Social Studies teacher, it was found that the learning
evaluation process is still conventional and underutilizes digital technology.
Students also show a higher level of interest when learning activities involve the
use of smartphones or game-based applications. Therefore, a Quizizz-based
formative assessment is needed that can bridge the need for evaluation with a fun
learning atmosphere.
The next stage is design, which involves preparing the initial design of the
formative assessment, including the display design, the preparation of question
items according to competency achievement indicators, and the preparation of
assessment instruments. After the design stage, the development stage is carried
out, where the researcher begins to create the formative assessment using the
Quizizz application and conducts validation tests by media experts and material
experts. Based on the validation results, the Quizizz-based formative assessment
was declared highly valid in terms of content feasibility, language, display, and
ease of use.
The implementation stage was carried out by applying the Quizizz-based
formative assessment to 32 Grade IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Mandau. The trial
results showed that the Quizizz-based formative assessment was classified as
practical and effective. Students gave a positive response to the use of this
assessment because of its attractive display, ease of use, and an evaluation
atmosphere that fostered learning enthusiasm. Furthermore, the results of the
student learning interest questionnaire showed a significant increase after the
implementation of the Quizizz-based formative assessment.
The final stage is evaluation, which is conducted to assess the overall
development process of the Quizizz-based formative assessment. Based on the

analysis results from the evaluation stage, this assessment product is declared
suitable for use in the Integrated Social Studies learning process. The Quizizz-
based formative assessment is proven to increase students' learning interest and
assist teachers in carrying out innovative, interactive, and enjoyable evaluations.
The feasibility test of the Quizizz-based formative assessment was carried
out during the implementation stage. Validation was performed by material
experts and media experts to assess the aspects of content, display, language, and
functionality of the assessment. The validation results from the assessment expert
showed an average score of 3.50 with a highly valid category and a feasibility
percentage of 87.5%. Meanwhile, the validation results from the media expert
obtained an average score of 3.58 with a highly valid category and a feasibility
percentage of 89.59%. Furthermore, the validation results from the language
expert showed an average score of 3.75 with a highly valid category and a
feasibility percentage of 93.75%. These results indicate that the Quizizz-based
formative assessment is suitable for use in Integrated Social Studies learning.
Based on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that the Quizizz-based
formative assessment is declared valid, practical, and effective for use in
Integrated Social Studies learning.
The use of this assessment is proven to be able to increase students'
learning interest while providing a more modern and adaptive evaluation
experience to the developments in educational technology. Therefore, teachers are
advised to utilize digital platforms such as Quizizz as an alternative assessment
innovation in learning, especially to increase the motivation and learning interest
of students in the current digital era.
