ABSTRAK
The development of information and communication technology has driven an
increasing need for fast and stable internet access, especially through public WiFi
networks that are now widely available in cafes, restaurants, and other public
spaces. This study aims to measure and analyze the quality of service (QoS) and
the quality of user experience (QoE) on open access WiFi networks in Pekanbaru
City. The study was conducted by collecting data at 30 cafe locations using QoS
technical parameters such as download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, and
packet loss, as well as QoE parameters in the form of browsing and streaming test
scores. The results of the study showed that the quality of QoE user experience on
open access WiFi networks in 30 points in Pekanbaru City was in the sufficient to
good category, indicated by an average browsing comfort of 63.44% and
streaming of 82.24%, and the results of the questionnaire from 150 respondents
who assessed technical aspects, ease of use, service satisfaction, network
reliability, and cost suitability were in the score range of 3.0–4.2, with the highest
level of satisfaction in streaming services. The results showed that the average
download speed of 4.69 Mbps is in the sufficient category, while the upload speed
of 3.54 Mbps and the average latency of 47.74 ms have met the good category.
However, the average jitter value of 111.59 ms and packet loss of 10.12% are still
considered insufficient, which indicates network instability in several test
locations.
