Rancang Bangun Mesin Pengupas Dan Pengiris Bawang Tipe Horizontal
ABSTRAK
Onion (Allium cepa L.) is an important horticultural commodity that is widely used as a basic seasoning in various dishes. The high demand for onions requires increased efficiency in the peeling and slicing process. Onion peeling and slicing machines on the market today generally use a vertical system, but have limitations such as imperfect peeling results, risk of leakage during the peeling process, and potential material damage that can lead to a decrease in efficiency and product cleanliness. Based on these problems, this study aims to design a horizontal type onion peeling and slicing machine, which is expected to reduce the constraints of vertical type machines. The horizontal type was chosen because of its advantages in simple design, easy assembly and disassembly, and support for easier tool maintenance. The design of this machine pays attention to the quality of the slicing results, production capacity, ease of use, ease of maintenance, and cost efficiency. The design results are expected to help small business actors and the general public in increasing the efficiency and productivity of onion processing. This machine is driven by an electric motor with a power of 0.5 HP and a rotation speed of around 1400 rpm. The peeling is done using a rotating blade system to remove the skin and slice the onion. The test results show that the machine is capable of peeling and slicing onions with a capacity of 10 kg/hour for the peeling process and 28.6 kg/hour for the slicing process.
