ABSTRACT
Economic growth is one of the main indicators of successful regional development, but there are still disparities between districts/cities in Riau Province. In addition, unemployment and poverty rates in several areas of Riau Province tend to be high, even though the HDI continues to improve. This situation raises the question of the extent to which human development, unemployment, and poverty factors influence economic growth in Riau Province.
This study aims to determine the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), unemployment, and poverty on economic growth in the regencies/cities of Riau Province. This study uses the independent variables of HDI, unemployment, and poverty with the dependent variable being economic growth in the regencies/cities of Riau Province. The data used in this study consists of data from 2013 to 2024. The method used is a quantitative approach with secondary data in the form of panel data. The population in this study is all districts/cities in Riau Province. The results show that HDI has a positive and significant effect on economic growth at the 5% level. Poverty has a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the unemployment variable has a negative and significant effect on economic growth in Riau Province.
Unemployment is identified as the most dominant variable, as it exhibits the largest magnitude of influence in the regression model compared to HDI and poverty.
