Rancangan Pabrik Hydrogen Peroxide Dengan Enichem Process (Oxidizing Carbon Monoxide In Complex Aqueous Solution) Dengan Desain Alat Utama CO2 Absorber Column (AB-301)
ABSTRACT
Hydrogen peroxide is widely used as an oxidant, bleaching agent, disinfectant, polymer initiator, and cross-linker in various fields, such as papermaking, textiles, chemical synthesis, military, electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, environmental protection, and metallurgy. Hydrogen peroxide production in Indonesia reaches 110,000 tons per year, which is insufficient to meet national demand, so Indonesia remains dependent on imports. Hydrogen peroxide imports in Indonesia are increasing by 14% per year, indicating a significant increase in demand. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data, Indonesia's hydrogen peroxide imports reached 34,380 tons per year in 2023. The plant is planned to be built in Dumai City, Riau, Indonesia. Dumai was chosen due to its proximity to raw material sources, ease of transportation, and availability of utilities.
Hydrogen peroxide production using the Enichem Process involves a two-stage process: a redox process, followed by separation and purification. The redox process occurs when CO2, O2, and H2O react with palladium acetate and bathocuproine dissolved in an organic solvent to produce hydrogen peroxide and a byproduct, CO2, with a conversion rate of 98%. The bottom product separation process is carried out in two stages: separating the organic solvent from the mixture using a decanter and separating the hydrogen peroxide from water using a distillation column. The top product separation process is carried out in two stages: separating CO2 from N2, O2, and CO gases using an absorber and separating the absorbent from CO2 using a stripper. The total electricity demand of the plant is 2,134.06 kW, while the water utility requirement is 404,004.965 kg/hour. Electricity is supplied by a generator set and PLTMG Dumai. Water utilities are sourced from the Pelitung River. The amount of waste generated is 2,560.7 kg/hour, which must be treated to meet quality standards before being discharged into the environment. The instrumentation used in the hydrogen peroxide plant includes measuring instruments (sensors) and indicators, controllers, alarms, and recorders. The variables measured are temperature, flow rate, pressure, and liquid level.
The results of the economic analysis showed a Total Capital Investment (TCI) of IDR 1,525,568,095,893, a Total Production Cost (TPC) of IDR 1,020,207,416,908, and a Working Capital Investment (WCI) of IDR 152,556,809,589. The profitability analysis parameters, NPV, ROI, PBP, IRR, and BEP, were obtained as IDR 2,578,290,931,967. 25.02%; 3.1 years; 22.03%; and 41.08% when the prices of raw materials and products remain unchanged.
