Analisis Kerapatan Vegetasi Menggunakan Indeks Msarvi Berbasis Citra Satelit Sentinel-2a Di Nagari Lubuak Jantan, Kabupaten Tanah Datar
ABSTRACT
Land cover changes and increased human activity have caused vegetation
degradation, which has impacted ecosystem stability and increased the risk of
hydrometeorological disasters, particularly in upstream river areas. Nagari Lubuak
Jantan, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province has a hilly topography
dominated by steep slopes that function as water catchment areas. The method used
was quantitative descriptive with Sentinel-2A image processing through Google
Earth Engine. Field validation was carried out using the hemispherical photography
method on 136 observation plots determined by stratified random sampling, with
canopy cover analysis using Image J. The results showed that the study area was
dominated by high vegetation density. The overall accuracy value of 88.97% and
the Kappa coefficient of 83.19% indicated an excellent level of conformity. These
results indicate that the Sentinel-2A image-based MSARVI index is capable of
accurately representing vegetation density conditions and can be used as a basis for
conservation planning and disaster mitigation in upstream river areas.
