Identifikasi Dan Karakteristik Jenis Anggrek (Orchidaceae) Di Resort 7 Sopotinjak Taman Nasional Batang Gadis Sumatera Utara
ABSTRACT
Indonesia is a country with one of the world's highest diversites of orchids.
Orchids are a type of non-timber forest product (NTFP) with high economic and
conservation value, but their existence in nature continues to be threatened by
environmental changes and human activities. This study aims to determine the
diversity of orchid species and identify the characteristics of orchid habitats in
Resort 7 Sopotinjak, Batang Gadis National Park (TNBG), North Sumatra. Data
collection was conducted in August 2025 using an exploratory method along
observation trails. The observation area covers 6 ha, divided into six 20 m × 500 m
plots. The data collected included orchid species, habitat type, as well as
environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, soil
characteristics, and host trees. The data were analyzed descriptively and
qualitatively, supported by the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and Margalef
species richness index. The results showed that 20 orchid species belonging to 14
genera were found in Resort 7 Sopotinjak, consisting of 17 types of epiphytic
orchids and 3 terrestrial orchids, 1 type of epiphytic orchid is also classified as
lithophytic orchid. The level of species diversity shows a moderate category
(H'=2.57), and species diversity also indicates a moderate category (Dmg=4.00).
The morphological diversity of orchids reflects their ability to adapt to
environmental conditions. The environmental conditions of the study site ranged
from of 1,255-1,389 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 22.6°C,
humidity of 80.6%, and light intensity of 235.6 cd, as well as fine to mediumtextured
mineral soil with a neutral pH that supports orchid growth.
