implementasi model pembelajaran open-ended problem berbantuan media phet untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik di sma negeri 2 tambang

Dian Andarini 2105110987 - Nama Orang;

Physics is a branch of science that is considered difficult and avoided by students, primarily due to conventional learning, where students simply receive material from the teacher and memorize formulas, making it seem complicated and boring. Newton's laws of motion are one of the physics topics that students find difficult. Regarding the nature of the learning material, Newton's laws of motion utilize various vector concepts, mathematical analysis, force diagrams, and a variety of problems. These characteristics of the material lead students to perceive the material as difficult and contribute to low cognitive learning outcomes.
The purpose of this study is to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes in Newton's laws at SMA Negeri 2 Tambang. Efforts to improve students' physics learning outcomes, especially in Newton's laws, require more student-centered learning innovations and active student involvement. One learning alternative that can be used is the Open-Ended Problem learning model. The open-ended problem learning model is a learning approach that presents a problem that has strategies and methods for solving it openly. In addition to implementing an appropriate learning model, there is another thing that needs to be considered, namely choosing appropriate learning media. One of the electronic learning media that can be applied in the classroom learning process is the Physics Education and Technology (PhET) media. PhET is an interactive simulation media in the form of a virtual laboratory that contains Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Earth materials.
This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Tambang, on Jalan Bupati, Tambang District, Kampar Regency. The type of research used was a quasi-experimental design with a Posttest Only Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study was 172 students in grade XI. The sample in this study was 92 students, with grade XI.2 consisting of 46 students as the experimental class and grade XI.1 consisting of 46 students as the control class. Data collection was obtained from the posttest results in the form of a cognitive ability test after the implementation of learning by applying the Open-Ended Problem learning model assisted by PhET media on Newton's laws material. The analysis carried out

consisted of instrument analysis, descriptive analysis, and inferential analysis.
The first data analysis was the testing of the research instrument, by conducting validity and reliability tests on the research instrument. The results of the analysis of the research instrument for the validity test showed 20 valid questions, and the reliability test obtained was 0.743. After the instrument testing was carried out, the posttest could be distributed to students. Descriptive analysis in this study was used to see the picture of the cognitive abilities of students at SMA Negeri 2 Tambang. Inferential analysis in this study aimed to determine the differences in cognitive abilities of classes that implemented the Open-Ended Problem learning model assisted by PhET media with classes that implemented conventional learning. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average score of cognitive abilities of the experimental class was 72.14 in the good category and the average score in the control class was 65.85 in the fairly good category. The results of the inferential analysis showed that there was a significant increase between the cognitive learning outcomes of students in the experimental class compared to students in the control class.
Based on the research results, the application of the Open-Ended Problem learning model assisted by PhET media on Newton's laws material resulted in a significant increase in cognitive learning outcomes compared to conventional learning. This can be seen from the average score of students' cognitive abilities in the experimental class which was higher compared to the control class. Statistically, this difference indicates that the use of the combination of the Open-Ended Problem model and PhET media has a significant effect on improving cognitive learning outcomes on Newton's laws material at SMA Negeri 2 Tambang.
