Analisis Dan Perancangan Mppt Berbasis Algoritma Cuckoo Search Untuk Meningkatkan Kinerja Pv Dalam Pengisian Baterai Pada Kondisi Partial Shading
ABSTRACT
Partial shading conditions (PSC) are a major challenge in photovoltaic (PV) systems because they create multiple local maximum power points (LMPPs) and a single global maximum power point (GMPP), causing conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms such as Perturb and Observe (P&O) to become trapped at an LMPP and reduce power extraction. This study aims to design and analyze the performance of the Cuckoo Search (CS) algorithm as an MPPT method using a buck-boost converter in a battery charging system. The CS algorithm employs Lévy flight optimization and nest updating mechanisms to determine the optimal converter duty cycle. Simulations were performed in MATLAB/Simulink by comparing the performance of CS and P&O. The best CS parameter combination was obtained at Pa = 0,25, α = 0,4, and β = 1,5. Under uniform irradiance conditions, P&O achieved the fastest tracking time of 0,028 s with a tracking efficiency of 99,90 %, while CS achieved a tracking efficiency of 99,95 % with a tracking time of 0,148 s. Under PSC, P&O achieved tracking efficiencies ranging from 52,55 – 99,85 % with tracking times of 0,029 – 0,128 s and failed to reach the GMPP in complex shading scenarios due to convergence at an LMPP. In contrast, CS consistently tracked the GMPP with tracking efficiencies of 99,30 % – 99,91 % and tracking times of 0,160 – 0,204 s. The average battery charging system overall efficiencies obtained using P&O and CS were 73,24 % and 93,35 %, respectively with a stable steady-state response. These results demonstrate that CS provides more reliable GMPP tracking and higher system efficiency than P&O under PSC.
