Studi Eksperimental Analisis Pengaruh Variasi Jumlah Sudu Terhadap Unjuk Kerja Dan Rugi- Rugi Pada Pompa Sebagai Turbin
ABSTRACT
The use of pump as turbine (PAT) is one of the economical solutions for microhydro power plants, but its performance is still affected by various mechanical and hydraulic losses that can reduce system efficiency. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the number of blades on the performance and losses of the PAT, as well as to provide experimental data as initial data that can be used as a reference for the optimization process and development of PAT for further researchers. The method used is experimental testing with variations in the number of blades of 9, 10, and 12. The parameters analyzed include water discharge, output power, efficiency, water pressure, rotation speed, and losses in the form of vibration levels and fluid leakage. The results show that variations in the number of blades affect the performance and losses of the PAT system. 10 blades produce the highest efficiency, which is 59.9% with an output power reaching 201.03 watts. In terms of losses, the highest vibration of 45.3 mm/s occurred in 9 blades at low load, then followed by 10 and 12 blades and decreased along with the increase in electrical load in all variations of the number of blades. The lowest fluid leakage occurred in 12 blades at 42 ml/s, while the highest leakage was in 9 blades at 59 ml/s. Based on these results, it can be concluded that variations in the number of blades affect the performance and losses in the pump as a turbine. It is hoped that this research data can be used as basic data for the development and optimization process of PAT to improve performance and reduce system losses.
