Kaji Eksperimental Kinerja Alat Pengering Surya Untuk Pengeringan Singkong Dengan Soy Wax Dan Paraffin Wax Sebagai Media Penyimpan Panas
ABSTRAK
Indonesia has significant potential for renewable energy, particularly solar energy, which can be utilized to address the increasing demand for energy and the limitations of non-renewable energy sources. One of the growing applications of solar energy is in the drying of agricultural products, such as cassava, which is highly susceptible to post-harvest deterioration. This study aims to analyze the comparative performance of a solar dryer using two types of heat storage materials based on phase change materials (PCM), namely soy wax and paraffin wax. A thermal energy storage system is employed to absorb, store, and release heat in order to maintain temperature stability within the dryer, especially when solar radiation intensity decreases. The research method involves comparing performance parameters such as drying air temperature, the rate of moisture reduction in cassava, and drying efficiency. The results are expected to identify the more effective PCM material in enhancing the performance of the solar dryer, thereby supporting the development of efficient, energy-saving, and sustainable drying technologies in the agricultural sector.
Keywords: solar energy, solar dryer, cassava drying, phase change material (PCM), soy wax, paraffin wax, thermal energy storage.
