Perancangan Dan Analisis Kinerja Sistem Transmisi Pada Mobil Hemat Energi Gurindam Urban Concept Diesel
ABSTRACT
Energy issues, particularly the use of fossil fuels, have become a major concern in the automotive sector, considering that fuel reserves are increasingly depleting while energy demands continue to rise. This condition encourages the development of research and innovation in energy-efficient vehicles, one of which is facilitated through the Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) as a forum for students to develop fuel efficiency technology. In this context, this research was carried out to design and analyze the transmission system of the Gurindam Urban Concept Diesel Energy Saving Car developed by the Selembayung Team of Universitas Riau. The transmission system was selected as the main focus of the study because it plays a direct role in transferring power from the engine to the drive wheel, thus influencing vehicle performance, torque distribution, and overall fuel consumption. The research methodology includes collecting technical data of the vehicle and engine, conducting literature studies related to gear and chain transmission design, calculating the dimensions of shafts, sprockets, chains, and selecting suitable bearings, as well as performing material strength analysis under operational loads. The calculation stage was carried out to determine transmission ratios, component diameters, chain linear speed, and stress evaluation using a static structural analysis approach. Furthermore, a safety factor assessment and power transfer feasibility analysis were conducted by comparing the operational load to the chain breaking load to ensure that all components operate within safe limits. The results indicate that the proposed transmission system design meets the material strength requirements, with the obtained safety factor value falling within a safe operational range, and is capable of transferring power without failure during operation. The selected transmission ratio provides speed variations suitable for initial acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. Therefore, the transmission system of the Gurindam Urban Concept Diesel vehicle is declared feasible for use and capable of supporting vehicle performance in achieving maximum mileage with more efficient fuel consumption.
