Analisis Pemanfaatan Beeswax Dengan Variasi Ketebalan Sebagai Phase Change Material (Pcm) Untuk Pendinginan Panel Surya
ABSTRACT
Solar panels are one of the renewable energy technologies that utilize solar energy to generate electricity. However, an increase in the operating temperature of solar panels due to exposure to solar radiation can lead to reductions in voltage, output power, and energy conversion efficiency. One passive cooling method that can be used to reduce the temperature increase of solar panels is the use of Phase Change Material (PCM). This study aims to analyze the utilization of *Beeswax as a PCM with different thicknesses* on the temperature reduction and performance of solar panels. The research method involved applying Beeswax PCM to the back surface of the solar panel with thickness variations of *3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm, and 6 cm, which were then compared with a panel without PCM. Data collection was conducted by measuring several parameters, including solar radiation intensity, ambient temperature, top and bottom panel temperatures, voltage, current, output power, and solar panel efficiency. The results showed that the use of Beeswax PCM was able to reduce the increase in solar panel temperature and influenced the output power and efficiency of the panel. The different PCM thicknesses resulted in different heat absorption capacities, where **a greater Beeswax PCM thickness provided a higher heat absorption capacity, resulting in better temperature reduction of the solar panel. The thickest PCM variation provided the greatest cooling effect, while the thinnest variation provided the lowest cooling effect. Therefore, **Beeswax has the potential to be used as a passive cooling system for solar panels to reduce the effects of temperature increases and maintain solar panel performance*.
