Pengaruh Penambahan Astaxanthin Dalam Pakan Sebagai Sumber Vitamin A Terhadap Kematangan Gonad Ikan Selais (Ompok Rhadinurus)
The research was conducted from 1st October - 27th December at Fish
Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Fishery and Marine Science Faculty of Riau
University. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of adding
Astaxanthin on gonad maturation of Sheatfish (Ompok rhadinurus). The
broodstock were reared in 12 ( 70 x 70 x 100 cm3 ) cages (5 fishes/cage), placed in
20 m3 concrete tank. Astaxanthin was added to the prepared diet in different
dosage: 0 mg/kg diet, 100 mg/kg diet, 200 mg/kg diet and 300 mg/kg diet.
The result showed diet contained 200 mg/kg Astaxanthin performed the
fastest gonad maturation (56 days), 4.4 % of gonad somatic index, 2.5 % of ovi
somatic index, 2176 of number eggs ovulated, 0.8 of egg diameter. The
temperature range from 27 – 310 C, pH 6 – 7, dissolved oxygen 3.9 – 4 ppm, and
ammoniac 0,001 – 0,009 mg/l.
