The waste in the landfill area will yield liquid waste known as leachate. The leachate
was composed of various elements in it including organic and inorganic contents,
heavy metal etc all of which constituted elements elements which could contaminate
nature, environment, human being and other living creatures. The landfill in Buantan
Besar Village, Siak Sub-district belonged to three sub-districts, namely Mempura,
Siak and Bunga Raya.
A study of effectivitas of Anaerobic Filtration of leachate water in TPA Buantan
Besar were conducted. The objective of the study were the effect of different
compotition of filter on the effectivity of the system to reduce BOD, COD, TSS an
phenols, on out flow. The present research sought to find out the effectiveness of the
Buantan Besar Landfill Leachate management using an anaerobic filtration method in
order to lower BOD, COD, dan TSS found in the Leachate. The statistic analysis of
fully random design and the analysis of variant used was a Two-Way Analysis of
Variance-ANOVA.
Three design of filtering system of different layes of gravel were applied on the study.
The observation of effectivity were done at day 0, 3, 6 and 9 respectively
The result showed that the time of treatment effected the effectivity of water
management system. The effectivity of the system related to time, which that three
days treatment were the most effective (37,89%).
