gillnet (gillnet) is one type of fishing gear of mesh material that forms a rectangle in which the mesh size (mesh size) is the same, the number of mesh horizontally (mesh length/ ML) far more than the number of mesh to the vertical direction (mesh depth/ MD). This research was conducted with the aim to collate information on fishing gear fishing nets used Drift bottom gillnet Bengkalis Riau Province in East Tanjung Jabung fishermen Jambi Province. This research was conducted in February until March 2017 in the Strait of Malacca in Bengkalis Riau province and in the waters of the island of idols East Tanjung Jabung Jambi Province. The method used is a survey and analysis method used is descriptive analysis. From the results of this study found that the differences and similarities of the two constructions such as ropes and rope ris, ris on the bottom, float rope, rope weights, floats, sinker and bouy. The difference is the mesh size (mesh size) in the Bengkalis is 11.42 cm and in East Tanjung Jabung area is 17.00 cm. Keywords: Drift bottom gillnet, construction and mesh size
