Kondisi Perairan Sungai Batang Gadis Ditinjau Dari Struktur Komunitas Makrozoobenthos
Macrozoobenthos that live in the base of a river is commonly used as bioindicator, as its presence is depended on the water quality of the river in general. To understand the condition in Batang Gadis River water, a study has been conducted on November 2016 – Februari 2017. Samples were taken from 5 stations, around the household area (S1), around the gold mining field (S2), around the sand mining field (S3), around the market area (S4), around the plantation area (S5). Parameters measured were the macrozoobenthos abundance, uniformity and dominancy indices and several water quality parameters such as temperature, brightness, current speed, turbidity, depth, substrate type, pH dissolved oxygen. Results shown that there were 5 families (3 classes) of macrozoobenthos, namely Tubificidae, Helicidae, Anodonta, Pleuroceridae and Macromidae. The highest density of macrozoobenthos was in the S2 (20 organisms/m2), and the lowestwas in the S1 (7 organisms/m2). The highest H’ of macrozoobenthos was in the S4 (2.00) and the lowest was in the S1 (0.86). The highest dominancy index (C) was in the S5 (0.72), and the lowest was in the S4 (0.29). The highest uniformity index (E) was in the S3 (0.94) and the lowest was in the S2 (0.79). There was sand substrate in S1, S2, S3, and S5, sand muddy substrate in S4. Data obtained indicate that the type of substrate strongly affects the type of macrozoobenthos present.
