Hubungan Higienitas Kuku Tangan Dengan Infestasi Soil Transmitted Helminths Pada Murid SD Di Daerah Pesisir Sungai Kecamatan Sabak Auh Kabupaten Siak
Soil transmitted helminths (STH) is an intestinal parasite that is transmitted through soil. Infestation of STH is often found in human and requires world’s concern. Tropical areas with bad hygiene like Indonesia are the place where infestation of STH is mostly found. Fingernails’ hygiene is one of the risk factor of STH’s infestation. The most occurrence infestation of STH in human in Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura and hokkworm (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale). This research was using analytic method with cross-sectional approach and done within November until December 2016 with total samples of 82 students. The research aimed to determine the relation between fingernails’ hygiene with the infestation of STH in primary students. Chi square test was done to determine the relationship between the variables. Based on the stool examination it was found that the occurrence of STH’s infestation is 35,4% while bad fingernails’ hygiene is 79,3%. Analysis data showed that there is no significant relationship between fingernails’ hygiene and infestation of STH (p=0,564).
