This research aimed to increasing ability to know about letters by using illustrated letter cards for children age 5-6 years in TK Mayang Lestari Bandar Sei Kijang Sub-district of Pelalawan Regency. The population in this research are children in group B by using illustrated letter cards as the media. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research with subject 15 childrens in age 5-6 year. This research used observation sheet by checklist the sheet as the data retrieval techniques. Meanwhile, this research use observation and documentation for the data collection techniques. Based on the data analysis, known that the average before the Cycle is 28.00% with “Begin to Develop” criteria, the average of Cycle I is 46.11% with “Begin to Develop” criteria, while the average of Cycle II is 70.78% with “Developed-Very Well” criteria. With a large overall improve (Cycle I to Cycle II) is 53.50%. It means that illustrated letter cards were very effective to increasing ability to know about letters for children age 5-6 years.
