Analisis Biomassa Dan Karbon Pada Lamun (Enhalus Acoroides) Di Perairan Timur Laut Pulau Penyengat Kota Tanjungpinang Provinsi Kepulauan Riau
The rapid growth of industrial sectors in various countries leads to an increase in greenhouse gases emissions such as carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. One of the important aspects of reducing carbon gas, is the maintenance of forests and oceans to store carbon. And one of the potential marine resources as a storage of CO2 gas is seagrass beds. Northeast waters of Penyengat Island has a community of seagrasses composed by various types, one of them is Enhalus acoroides which has an important role as carbon store. This research was conducted in October-November 2017 in the Northeast waters of Penyengat Island, Tanjungpinang City which aims to know the condition of density, carbon storage potential and C-organic content of biomass in seagrass tissue in Above ground and Below ground (rhizomes and roots) between stations as well as the relationship between the density of seagrass biomass, the C-organic content and the carbon storage in the seagrass. Data were obtained by using the quadratic transect method performed on 4 stations. The results showed that the density of seagrass in the study location was moderate, the density of seagrass in Station III is higher than other stations. The greatest biomass value was found in the rhizomes and roots of seagrasses in all stations. Seagrass areas that have less anthropogenic effect is station III which has a greater biomass potential than the seagrass area with the opposite condition. In this study, the value of C-organic content is low. The low content of C-organic is due to waters of Penyengat Island condition affected by human activity and the influence of tidal in the study areas. The mean value of carbon storage in the waters of the Northeast of Penyengat Island is moderate, where seagrass density and seagrass biomass values influence carbon storage of seagrass.
