Kajian Potensi Ekowisata Bahari Berdasarkan Aspek Ekologi Di Taman Wisata Perairan Pulau Pieh Provinsi Sumatra Barat

Pandan Island is one of the islands located in the National Park waters conservation Park in the province of West Sumatra. Pandan Island has the charm to serve as of marine ecotourism area thourgh its condition as turtle conservation area, dolphin trek area, coral reefhabitat , and white sandy beach. This research was conducted in Pandan Island in July until September 2017 and aimed to know the ecological condition of Pandan Island, and to know the suitability of Pandan Beach as Ecotourism. The Metod used in this research was survey method. The research results indicate that Pandan Island has a very high potential to be developed into a marine ecotourism area. Ecologically Pandan Island has met the criteria to be one of the destination of marine tourism objects both from the aspect of the quality of the waters on the island of Pandan and from its natural beauty. For the quality of waters in Pandan Island, this study obtained average depth stations 3.2 m, the transparancy of 3 m, water temperature of 29.8 current velocity of 0.425 m/secon, salinity of 33 ppt, and pH of 8. Based on value of tourism suitabelity index each station showed from those finding the area is above 80%. Classified as very appropriate category for ecotourism.
