The title of this Thesis is "Medan area command to filling the proclamation and defending the independence of the Indonesian Republic at North Sumatera 1945-1947”. At the beginning of Indonesian independence the formation of military organization is an important thing to defend the independence during the revolutionary period of independence. That Military organization is called Komando Medan Area.As for the purpose of this Thesis is to know how the existence of Komando Medan Area is in the period of independence revolution, to know the formation and future development of Komando Medan Area is.This research was classified as a qualitative method. The source of that data obtained from the result of some interview and analyzed by simple own language.This research has been writing since this titled submitted until the research done. Data collecting are obtained by the observation, documentation, interview, and library research. And the Results of this research is, to show that Komando Medan Area has a very big role in maintaining the independence of the Republic of Indonesia from people who want to seize it, especially the region of North Sumatra.
