Sistem Pengering Kolektor Plat Datar Menggunakan Bahan Bakar Limbah Biomassa
This study examines the application of a flat plate collector system for drying crispy of cassava using fuel waste of corncob biomass that used rarely in rural area comparing of the temperature in the drying chamber by using three fuels waste of biomassa were coconut shell, corncob, and bagasse with a total mass of fuel were 8 kg. Drying system using a flat plate collector space with a length of 150 cm, width of 100 cm and height of 115 cm, equipped with a chimney, and two racks dryer made of rattan, and two drums which serves as a source of heat energy. Wall drying chamber was made of plywood and the inside of the drying chamber is lined with flat plate collectors made of zinc plate and painted black. The maximum temperature produced by coconut shell, corncob, and baggase were 92oC, 91.5oC, and 69oC respectively in the drying chamber. Coconut shell entirely converted to ash in 130 minutes, corncob 120 minutes, and bagasse 70 minutes. The total mass of the fuel waste corncob biomass that used for drying crispy of cassava was 6 kg. The room temperature was arranged in accordance with opened drier room door if the temperature on maximum amount had been over until the wanted temperature 40oC to 70oC. Observations were made during 100 minutes with interval of observation every 10 minutes. The results of the drying showed that the content of the water on rack 1 was 14.45% and the rack 2 was 16.76% and the decreasing rate of the water content was gained -0.32% per minute on rack 1 and on the rack 2 was -0.31 % per minute.
