Pengaruh Variasi Aktivasi Koh Dengan Radiasi Gelombang Mikro Pada Elektroda Karbon Dari Tempurung Kelapa Terhadap Sifat Fisis Dan Elektrokimia Sel Superkapasitor
Carbon electrodes from coconut shell with a variation of chemical activation and
microwave radiation using an experimental method by spraying have been
investigated. The chemical activation was performed using mass ratio of carbon
and KOH 1:3 (sample A), 1:4 (sample B) and 1:5 (sample C). Activation
performed at temperature of 80 oC for 2 hours and also irradiated by microwave
with power of 600 watts for 20 minutes. Combination of chemical activation and
microwave radiation affected physical and electrochemical properties of those
three electrodes. The physical properties consisted of porosity, crystalline
properties and surface morphology of electrodes. The absorption of Nitrogen gas
(N2) as specific surface area measurement (SBET) gave value of 194.429 m2g-1 and
82.755 m2g-1 for sample A and sample C. Surface morphology structure and
crystalline properties of electodes were analyzed using Scanning Electron
Microscopy and X-ray Diffraction method. Electrochemical properties of
electrodes were analyzed using cyclic voltametry method with scanning rate of 1
mV/s. The results of analysis gave capacitance value of 10.55 Fg-1, 6.50 Fg-1, and
4.24 Fg-1 for sample A, sample B and sample C. Measurement results indicate that
physical and electrochemical properties of supercapacitor electrode is affected by
the concentration of activator material. The value of specific capacitance would
decrease along with the increase of activator material concentration.
