Karakteristik Kematangan Tandan Buah Segar Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Metode Laser Speckle Imaging (LSI)
A laser speckle imaging (LSI) method has been used to asses many kinds of fruit conditions using speckle patterns of the fruit surfaces when illuminated by a laser light. For Oil Palm Industry, a nondestructive, fast, affordable grading method needs to be developed for assessing the ripeness level of palm oil-Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). This preliminary research was aimed to assess the ripeness levels of palm oil-FFB using a LSI method. The system composed of a 650 nm diode laser which laser beam diameter 10 cm and a monochrome CMOS camera. The FFB samples of Tenera variety was FFB type A and type B with 5 fractions of ripeness conditions were obtained from a palm oil company. Laser was illuminated on frontside and backside of FFB. Each side divided into three egion of interest (ROI).The five fractions were F0, F1, F3, F4 and F5. The 2nd and 3rd fractions are the best conditions which are ripe 1 and ripe 2. The conditions were categorized traditionally by an experience staff from the palm oil fruit company. The gray values of the FFB speckle patterns, previously recorded by the CMOS camera, were analyzed using ImageJ software. The research results showed that the highest mean gray values was in F4 fraction, followed by the F3, then F5 fractions. The lowest were F0 and F1 fractions which were the unripe FFBs. The comparative on both FFB types showed that gray values of FFB type A was greater than FFB type B
