This research is motivated by the development of the era that has influenced the change in every part of traditional ceremony of marriage which resulted in changes in the implementation of the ceremony. The change here means adding or reducing certain obligations in a marriage ceremony. The formulation of this research problem is what aspects are changed in the implementation of traditional customs marriage Minangkabau ethnic groups and what factors affect the occurrence of changes in the implementation of customary marriage procedures Minangkabau tribe in Kelurahan Duri Timur ?. The purpose of this study is to describe what aspects are changed in the implementation of traditional marriage customs of the Minangkabau tribe and to determine what factors affect the change in the implementation of traditional marriage customs of Minangkabau tribe in Kelurahan Duri Timur.
Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that from the 14 aspects in the marriage custom procedures of the Minangkabau ethnic group there are 13 aspects that have changed in Duri Timur Urban Village and the factors that influence the changes in traditional customs of Minangkabau marriage in Kelurahan Duri Timur namely contact with other cultures, The desire to move forward, the tolerance of perverted acts that are not offenses, the public discontent with certain spheres of life, the value that man must always endeavor to improve his life and the easy attitudes of new things and so on.
