This study was motivated by the lace IPS student learning outcomes for the action research done, by applying the cooperative learning model type GI. This study will be conducted in 030 primary schools Sibuak address at the flamboyant and the research was conducted in the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic year in April 2016. Rencangan research is classroom action research (PTK). The subjects were fifth grade students of SD Negeri 030 Sibuak by the number of students as many as 15 people, male students and 10 female students 5 people. Researchers instrument for data learning process is learning device simulator syllabus, lesson plans and worksheets and activity sheets observations of teachers and students. The data collection technique used is the technique of the activities of teachers and students, in the form of classical completeness of individual learning outcomes, classical completeness, an average of learning outcomes and learning outcome. IPS student learning outcomes assessment results can be seen in daily test cycle I and cycle II. The average value of the results of social studies students based on preliminary data or a base score was 69.4 (not finished). Once applied to the cooperative model GI type paa cycle I obtained an average value of 84.8 and the second cycle gained an average of 85.8. Percentage peningkatanhasil learn paa siklusI is 22.19% and increased in the second cycle to 23.7%, the activities of teachers and students of each meeting also increased. Activities teachers of the first cycle of the first meeting until the second meeting of the second cycle include: 58.3%, 62.5%, 70.83%, 75% with up well enough category. For student activity from the first cycle of the first meeting until the second meeting of the second cycle include: 58.3% 66.65% 75% 79.16% with a category quite up well. Based on research data and data analysis that has been done can be concluded that the application of the cooperative model GI type can improve learning outcomes in class V SD Negeri 030 Sibuak.
