Elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years old and above, both men and women. Elderly people experience a decrease in physical/biological, psychological, and social changes. This change can cause a decline in elderly independence, so that the elderly really need encouragement and motivation from the nursing staff, so that the elderly can remain independent. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nursing staff and the independence of the elderly in fulfilling daily activities. This research was conducted at the Tresna Werdha Social Institution (PSTW) in Pekanbaru, with a descriptive correlation design using cross sectional approach. The population of this study is all the elderly of Tresna Werdha Social Institution (PSTW) in Pekanbaru. The sampling technique is by total sampling which refers to the inclusion criteria. The measuring instrument used is the support staff questionnaire and the elderly independence questionnaire using the Katz Index which has been tested for validity and reliability. The analysis used is univariate analysis using Kolmogorov smirnor. The results of statistical tests obtained p value (0,000)
