Durabilitas Mortar Abu Kerang Lokan Dengan Variasi Perawatan Dalam Larutan Nacl
This research aims to investigate the characteristics and durability of lokan seashell mortar with curing variations in NaCl solution. Seashell powder from the waste of lokan seashell which were burned in a brick furnace and filtered using no. 200 sieve. The research specimens used mortar 5x5x5 cm. Variations in the content of seashells used are 0%, 5%, and 10% of the weight of cement. The specimens were immersed in distilled water and 5% NaCl solution for 120 days. The tests performed in this study were compressive strength test, porosity test, weight changes, chloride penetration test, FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-Ray).
The results of research showed that mortar 5% had optimum value for changes in compressive strength, porosity, weight changes, and percentage of chloride penetration compared to mortar 0% and 10%. Testing of SEM and EDX shows the pores and crystals, indicates that a chemical reaction has occurred in mortar and changes in the value of the elemental compound of the mortar compound. FTIR testing showed the occurrence of cement hydration Ca(OH)2 reaction during the immersion process in salt water. Based on the result of the research, it was found that the addition of 5% mixture of lokan seashell powder on the mortar was effective to improve the durability of the concrete in the marine environment.
