The problem of the study is how the experience of Intercultural Communication of Chinese Ethnic Communities with Malays in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir Regency Especially in Bagan Kota Village, The objectives of this study are: (1) to experience the intercultural communication between ethnic Chinese and Malay communities in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir District, especially in Bagan Sub-District City; (2) to find out the face negotiations of Chinese people in front of Malay people between two different cultures, (3) to find out the barriers to Intercultural Communication of Chinese Ethnic Communities with Malays in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir Regency Especially in Bagan Kota Village.
This research was conducted in Bagan Kota Village, Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The informants in this study were as many as 10 people of the ethnic Chinese community selected through a purposive technique. Data collection methods carried out in this study were interviews, observation, documentation, research results, and other literature related to the research. The data collected was then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's Interactive Analysis Model.
The results of this study indicate that the behavior of intercultural communication experience among ethnic Chinese communities with Malay in Bagan City, Bangko Sub-District, Rokan Hilir District has not been well established, this can be seen from the appearance of Chinese people when explaining the experience of intercultural communication with Malay ethnic communities is less communicative to when the researcher asked a number of questions about his communication experience with the Malay community, from the results of several questions which became obstacles in intercultural communication of the ethnic Chinese community by Malay in the city chart was cultural differences, stereotypical attitudes and past experiences (conflicts).
