Pengaruh Seduhan Rebusan Daun Paitan (Thitonia Diversifolia) Terhadap Kadar Gula Darah Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2
Paitan (Thitonia diversifolia) is herbal plant that contains an active substance polyphenol that works by increasing insulin receptors. This study used by 10 grams of paitan leaf boiled with 200 ml to 100 ml of water. The purpose of this study was to determine about effect of steeping paitan leaf on blood sugar levels DM patients type 2 with a research design Quasy Eksperiment. The study sample were 34 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique which was grouped into 2 groups: 17 experimental group respondents who were given paitan leaf stew twice a day for 3 consecutive days and 17 control group respondents who were not given paitan leaf stew. Both groups continued to take the diabetes medication. The measuring instrument used was observation sheet and glucometer to measuring blood sugar pre test on the first day and post test for 3 consecutive days after consuming paitan leaf stew. The analysis used is univariate analysis to describe characteristics of each respondent and bivariate analysis using wilcoxon test for two groups. Homogenity test results showed no differences in the characteristics of subjects from two groups. There were significant differences in the mean blood sugar levels of the pre test and post test in the experimental group with p value 0,029, whereas in the control group no differences were found with p value 0,162. It concluded there is effect of steeping paitan leaf on decreasing blood sugar levels of type 2 DM patients in the working area of Rejosari Pekanbaru Health Center.
