Konsep Diri Remaja Korban Verbal Abuse Oleh Orang Tua Di Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
DN is a 17-year-old teenager who experiences verbal abuse from his parents, DN gets verbal abuse like the statement of her parents who do not want her and bad labels like “bitches”, “dogs”, and so on. Other than that other than that DN is also ignored and compared to his parents, so verbal abuse causes DN to have challenging behavior, tend to be aggressive and do not want to communicate with their parents, so verbal abuse makes DN experience the development of a disturbed self concept. unwittingly verbal abusealso has the same harmful effects as physical or sexual violence because verbal abuseby parents is a bad example of adolescents in communication that also influences their self-concept. This study aims to determine the internal dimensions and external dimensions of adolescent self-concept of verbal abuseviolence by parents at Pekanbaru city.
This research uses descriptive qualitative method with phenomenological approach, data collection techniques consist of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. the collection of informants in this study used snowball techniques, and the number of informants in this study amounted to 10 people.
The results in this study indicate that the internal dimensions of the self-concept of adolescents who are verbal abuse consist of parents, which consists of: identity, where adolescents judge themselves as people who have difficulty controlling emotions, silence and difficulty adjusting to new environments, teens have behaviors that do not want to talk to their parents and are aggressive and get bad labels from their parents. about the external dimensions of adolescent self-concept of verbal abuseviolence by parents, such as physical aspects: where adolescents are satisfied with their physical form, in the moral aspects of self-ethics: adolescents feel moral and ethical are not good because they lack worship and disobey parents, in the personal aspect: some teenagers are satisfied with their friendly personality, some of them feel dissatisfied with their personalities such as lack of confidence and calm, in the aspect of family self: in the family, adolescents still get appreciation from parents but adolescents still do not want to communicate with parents, and in the social aspect of themselves: teenagers are more open and cheerful in the social environment.
