Fenomena Reuni Dan Wacana Identitas (Studi Pada Kegiatan Reuni Sman 2 Bukitinggi Tahun 2019)

The reunion has become a popular activity among the public in recent years and seems to become a lifestyle in our society. This is inseparables from the assistance of technology and information that is growing rapidly, which makes people can connect to each other with an ease without obstructed by distance and time as well as supported by the culture of Indonesian people who tend to like to gather. Conformity between technological advances and Indonesian society who are get used to the group culture makes reunion happen more widespread. Reunions are also affected by the high level of heterogeneity in society, thus they want to find people who have similarities with them to form a community (gemeinschaft). This study aims to determine what is the purpose, motives, and discourse of identity for reunion participants at the SMAN 2 Bukittinggi reunion event.
This study uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques consist of in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The gathering of informants in this study used the Snowball Technique with eleven (11) peoples. Data analysis techniques were obtained using data reduction techniques, data display, and decision making and verification.
The results of the study showed that the meaning of the reunion for the participants of the reunion was divided into three, namely the meaning of silaturrahmi purpose, indak lupo jo almamater purpose and mangumpuakan nan taserak purpose. As for the motives, they are divided into two, namely because to motive consisting of bacarito lamak motives, bagalak-galak motives, and kepo motives. Furthermore, in order to motive consists of sambil menyelam minum air motives and provide greater benefits motives, in the form of discussion motives and social motives. For identity discourse consists of appearance, self-actualization, and reunion not a show off event.
