Sintesis Zsm-5 Dari Fly Ash Kelapa Sawit Dengan Metode Fusi Alkali-Hidrotermal Pada Suhu 100°C
Fly ash is one of the by-products of a palm oil mill. Fly ash contains silica which can be used as a raw material for zeolite synthesis. ZSM-5 has been synthesized through the alkali-hydrothermal fusion method. Synthesis is done by first calcining palm oil fly ash at a temperature of 700oC for 6 hours, then dissolving it in 1N hydrochloric acid and filtering it. Fly ash is then washed with distilled water and dried in the oven. Fly ash is then mixed with NaOH pellets at a ratio of (g/g) 5:6 in a porcelain crussible, then a porcelain crussible is placed into the furnace at a temperature of 550oC for 1 hour so alkaline fusion occurs. Sodium silicate formed then hydrochloric acid was added to pH 7 to extract silica. The silica gel obtained is then allowed to stand for 24 hours and dried in an oven at 100oC for 12 hours. ZSM-5 synthesis was carried out at various ratios of SiO2/Al2O3 molar composition (100, 150 and 200) and the addition of PEG-400 as a template at 100oC using the hydrothermal method. Analysis using XRD showed that the zeolite molar ratio synthesized by SiO2/Al2O3 150 was ZSM-5 as evidenced by the main peaks appearing at 2θ = 7-9o and 21-23,9o with 88.84 nm crystal size and 67.63 crystallinity. The zeolite samples synthesized in the ratio SiO2/Al2O3 200 also showed ZSM-5 as evidenced by the main peaks which appeared at 2θ = 7-9o and 21-23,9o with 78.40 nm crystal size and crystallinity level of 28.53%. Analysis using FTIR spectroscopy on the variation of ZSM-5 synthesized in the molar ratios of SiO2/Al2O3 150 and 200 has many functional groups including T-OH hydroxyl groups (Si-OH / Al-OH), TO groups (O-Si-O / O-Al-O) and pentacil group of ZSM-5. The surface acidity of the ZSM-5 SiO2/Al2O3 150 and 200 ratios are 1.1979 mmol/gram and 0.9801 mmol/gram, respectively.
