Karakteristik Kertas Dari Bahan Baku Campuran Sekam Padi Dan Ampas Tebu Dengan Proses Soda Semi Mekanis
ABSTRACT
Rice husk and bagasse contain cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin an ash. One way to use rice husk and bagasse is to make it as a pulp. Pulp is the result of separation of fibers from fibrous ( wood or non wood) through various manufacturing processes, both mechanical to quality of pulp. Pulp making of raw rice husk and bagasse use sodium hydroxide. Fixed variables of this study is concentration of sodium hydroxide 2% and a comparison of raw materials - cooking solution is 1: 10. Variable changed this study is cooking time 90 and 120 minutes, a comparison of percent weight rice husk pulp and bagasse pulp is (1:1), (1:2), (1:3). This study do a pulp test such as water content, kappa number, tear strength, tensile strength, gramatur and thickness. Research result have the lowest water content 6,03% in comparison of raw rice husk and bagasse 1:3 at cooking time 120 minute. The lowest kappa number is 11,65 in comparison of raw rice husk and bagasse 1:1 at cooking time 120 minute. The best result of tensile strength and tear strength obtained in comparison of raw 1:1 at cooking time 120 minute with tensile strength 2,998 kN/m and tear strength 732 mN. Of the parameters that have been tested. Can be concluded pulp from rice husk and bagasse can made wrap paper laminated plastic and paper for food packaging.
