ABSTRACT
Rhinoceros beetles larvae (kolarhino) feces is an organic fertilizer that can increase soil nutrients and soil mesofauna in oil palm plants. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of several doses of kolarhino on population density and diversity of soil mesofauna in immature oil palm plants. The study was conducted from May to August 2018 at the oil palm plantation PTPN V Sei Galuh, Kampar District, Riau Province. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments of kolarhino and 4 replications, which were : 0 kg of kolarhino per plant, 5 kg of kolarhino per plant, 10 kg of kolarhino per plant and 15 kg of kolarhino per plant. Kolarhino observations include population density, relative density and diversity index. The results showed that the highest average population density of 255.1 individuals per square meter with the distribution of 15 kg kolarhino per plant identified as many as 32 families and had a diversity index of 1.7 and 1.5 which means it has medium diversity.
