Pengaruh Waktu Karbonisasi Terhadap Karakteristik Arang Biji Jabon Putih (Anthocephalus Cadamba) Dan Diaktivasi Oleh Naoh Sebagai Adsorben Ion Merkuri(Ii)
Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba) is the a one of native tree species of Indonesia. The utilization of Jabon was focused on wood production that makes other part such as Jabon seed was underutilized. This study was focused on Jabon seed as biomass for adsorbent of mercury(ii) ion. Jabon seed was used as a source of activated carbon by chemical activator method using NaOH as an activator. Jabon seed was prepared on carbonization temperature 300°C, by varying the carbonization time (30; 60; 90 and 120 minutes). The characterization of activated carbon was based on SNI No. 06-3730-1995. The existence of functional groups was characterized by FT-IR. The adsorptivity of Jabon seed activated carbon was analyzed by ICP-OES Spectrometer. The result was showed that the optimum of carbonization time for jabon fruit was 30 minutes, with the characterization result were 4,71% of moisture contain, 5,74% of ash content, 1088,08 mg g-1 of iodine number and 19,20 mg g-1 of methylene blue number. The activation treatment on Jabon seed carbon with NaOH 1:3 increases the adsorption efficiency of mercury(ii) ion to 99,55%.
