Efek Ekstrak Etanol Daun Pelawan (Tristaniopsis Obovata R.Br.) Terhadap Struktur Uterus Tikus Putih Betina (Rattus Norvegicus Berkenhout, 1769) Galur Wistar Setelah Melahirkan

Leaf of pelawan (Tristaniopsis obovata R.Br.) has been used to cure various diseases, including empirical treatment for woman’s uterus in postpartum period. Objective of the study was to examine the effect of ethanol extract of pelawan leaves on Wistar rat’s uterine in postpartum period. Eighteen pregnant female rats divided into 2 treatment groups: control (P0), ethanol extract (P1). The experiment was designed to completely random design. The effect of treatment on uterine involution was observed by measuring the weight of uterus and the thickness of uterus endometrium at 3 days postpartum, 5 days postpartum and 10 days postpartum. The uterus was processed into histological slides using paraffin methods and were stained with HE. Data were tested using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed that ethanol extract of pelawan leaves at dose level 100 mg/kg body weight do not give any significant difference (α>0,01) to the weight of uterus and the thickness of uterus endometrium, but uterine involution in ethanol extract of pelawan leaves groups, were faster than the control groups. Uterine’s weight of both groups have reached normal weight at 5 days postpartum. Conclusion of this study was that changes in weight of the uterus and the thickness of uterus endometrium allegedly under the influence of chemical compounds contained in the ethanol extract of pelawan leaves.
