Penentuan Sifat Magnetik Dan Uji Xrf Partikel Magnetik Pasir Pantai Ampalu Pariaman Sumatera Barat
Measurement of magnetic properties and composition of magnetic particles of sand from Ampalu Beach Pariaman, West Sumatera has been carried out. Sand beach samples were collected from 6 locations with an amount of 0.5 kg per sample, and then dried. The samples were then separated between magnetic and non-magnetic particles using Iron Sand Separator (ISS). The product of Iron Sand Separator is called Concentrate 1. Concentrate 1 was then processed using ball milling technique as a function of time such as 10, 20, 40, and 60 hours. In this process, the ball of milling used was 1,5 cm in diameter. The product of ball milling was processed by pieces of magnet called Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB). The product of the milling is called concentrate II. Magnetic induction data shows that the magnetic susceptibility value of concentrates I and II have values of (1456.0-2091.5) x 10-5 and (2743.1-6934.2) x 10-5, while the mass susceptibility of the concentrated 1 and 2 has a value of (1201.3-1753.1) x 10-8 kg/m3 and (1126.0-2889.2) x 10-8 kg/m3, the obtained values are the interval of ilminite mineral that is (40-80000) x 10-8 kg/m3. The composition of the elements was identified using X-Ray Fluorescence. XRF identification showed magnetic elements such as Fe increased from 6,121% to 58.835%, Ti, V, Mn elements also increased, while non-magnetic elements such as Si, P, and Cl decreased, the most drastic decrease occurred in Si, from 61,063 % to 17,856%.
