Potensi Ekstrak Rumput Laut Sargassum Sp. Sebagai Antibakteri Patogen (Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus Aureus Dan Vibrio Alginolyticus)
ABSTRACT
Sargassum sp. can inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Vibrio alginolyticus in the category of weak to moderate. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory properties of Sargassum sp. against E. coli, S. aureus, and V. alginolyticus bacteria. This research was conducted in April - May 2019. Sampling was carried out in the waters of Pigago Island, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra. This research method is a survey method and experimental method and the method used to test antibacterial activity is the disc diffusion agar method. Sargassum sp. has the potential to inhibit pathogenic bacteria. The highest clear zone in E. coli bacteria with 100% concentration is 4.5 mm, in S. aureus bacteria the highest yield is at 100% concentration with 6.1 mm yield, and in V. alginolyticus bacteria the highest yield is at 100% concentration with yield 5.32 mm. The clear zone rises in proportion to the increase in concentration.
