Representasi Wanita Bercadar Dalam Film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 Karya Guntur Soehardjanto

Mass media has the ability to influence audiences, one of which is film. Film as an audio visual mass media that is able to reach every level of society, has the ability to influence and build public opinion. The film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Guntur Soehardjanto is a film with a religious genre, which features female veiled figures. Veil according to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) is interpreted as a cloth covering the head or face for women. This study aims to determine how the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myths of veiled female figures and the representation of veiled women in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Guntur Soehardjanto.

The method used is a qualitative method with semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes. The research subjects were scenes in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Guntur Soehardjanto in this study the scenes studied were 8 scenes, while the objects in this study were audio and visual in the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Guntur Soehardjanto. In this study using observation, documentation, and literature study data collection techniques. To achieve the validity of the data in this study the authors used triangulation and peer examinations through discussion.

The results of this study show that a veiled woman is represented as a woman in loose clothing who covers from head to toe, is gentle, always looks down, after marriage, positions herself as a wife rather than as an individual, is cautious, and practices the Sunnah- sunnah Rasul.
