Karakteristik Dan Survei Darah Jari Pasca Pengobatan Filariasis Di Kecamatan Pulau Merbau Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
Filariasis or more commonly known by the community as elephantiasis is an infectious disease caused by filarial worms namely Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi and Brugia timori. Riau Province is one of the provinces that has significant number of patients with filariasis. If seen from the spread of filariasis cases in every regency in Riau Province, one of the most spread is in Meranti Islands Regency which occupies the 3rd place. The purpose of this study was determine the characteristics and finger blood survey after filariasis treatment in Pulau Merbau District, Kepulauan Meranti Regency. This research is a descriptive observational study and data collection by interview and finger blood sampling at night which starts at 22:00 - 24:00 WIB from patients taking filariasis medication in Merbau Island District, and microfilaria examination conducted in the parasitology laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau. The results of this study showed that of 37 samples suffering from filariasis, the most common were aged 15-64 years 95% (35 people), 57% women (21 people), 35% of traders / entrepreneurs (13 people), and results on microscopy no filarial infection was found in Pulau Merbau District. The most common occurrences of filariasis occur in the 15-64 years age group, female sex, entrepreneurial work, and no post-treatment filarial infections were found in residents of Merbau Island District.
