Kualitas Mutu Briket Arang Dari Limbah Cangkang Kemiri Dengan Penambahan Bonggol Jagung Sebagai Bahan Bakar Alternatif
The utilization of the shell of pecans and corn-cuffs as raw materials to make
charcoal briquettes would reduce the energy consumption of fossil fuels. With that
in mind, a research needs to be done to make charcoal briquettes from the waste
of pecan shells and corn-cuffed; knowing the quality of the charcoal briquettes
from mixing of pecan shells and corn-cuff; knowing the best charcoal briquette
composition between pecan shells with corn-scuffling mixing to the quality of
briquettes produced. The study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with
4 treatments and 5 repeats. The materials used in the study were shells of pecans,
corn weevils, water, and tapioca flour. Tools used in the study were briquette
molds, combustion sites, analytic scales, 60 mesh sieves, hydraulic press tools,
ovens, bomb calorimeters, crucibles, desiccator, furnaces, combustion tubes,
dimples and pestles, digital cameras, stationery, and stopwatch. The results
showed that charcoal briquettes from shell waste pecans with the addition of corn
weevils had quality with moisture content value of 6.04-7.18%, substance levels
evaporated 56.20-74.18%, ash levels 31.47-46.11%, carbon levels bound 14.15-
28.33%, caloric value 5.964.06-6,305.03 cal/g and density 0.72-0.75 g/cm3. In
conclusion, treatment with the addition of 25% corn weevil provides the best
result against the quality of charcoal briquettes from the waste of a pecan shell
with the addition of corn weevils according to Indonesian National Standard No.
01-6235-2000.
