Karakteristik Balok Laminasi Kayu Akasia (Acacia Mangium) Dan Kayu Meranti Merah (Shorea Leprosula. Miq) Menggunakan Perekat Styrofoam
The potential of wood raw material in Indonesia was very abundant, but the increasing need for processed wood as a building material makes it difficult to obtain large size and quality sawn wood. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem was the engineering of products with adhesive in the form of glulam, where two or more sawn timber were glued together using an adhesive. The formation of glulam wood with low quality can be utilized thereby increasing the efficiency of wood used, such as acacia (Acacia Mangium) and meranti merah (Shorea leprosula. Miq). Based on this, this study was conducted to determine the characteristics of acacia wood and meranti merah glulam using styrofoam adhesive based on six different lamina arrays. Samples measuring 120cm x 5cm x 18 cm made of six layers of acacia lamina and meranti merah . This study used an experimental method with a non-factorial complete randomized design and consisted of one factor, namely the type of lamina structure. The physical and mechanical properties of wood were tested according to the JAS 234: 2003 standard method. The results showed the characteristics of glulam in the form of moisture 9,85-15,14%, density value 0,41-0,52 g/cm3, MOE 823,87-2026,68 kg/cm2 and MOR 24,78-86,71 kg/cm2. Where only the moisture meets JAS 234: 2003 standards. Keywords:Characteristic, glulam, acacia wood, meranti merah wood, styrofoam adhesive.
