Preparasi Dan Karakterisasi Adsorben Kulit Batang Sagu (Metroxylon Sagu Rottb.) Dengan Aktivator Na2co3
Sago palm bark is potentially used as adsorbent because it contains cellulose and lignin. The purpose of this study were to prepare and characterize the adsorbent of sago palm bark powder and activated carbon and determine the quality of adsorbent based on SNI 06-3730-1995. The powder and the activated carbon from sago palm bark are activated through the addition of sodium carbonat (Na2CO3) activator with a variation ratio of weight 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4. The quality of the adsorbent from sago palm bark powder and activated carbon was tested through characterization including water content, ash content, adsorption of iodine, adsorption of methylene blue and the determine of functional group was analyzed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The result of characterization indicated that sago palm bark powder which activated by sodium carbonat ratio 1:3 has the optimum result with 1.08% water content, 2.2% ash content, 558.93 mg/g adsorption of iodine, 24.849 mg/g adsorption of methylene blue and 92.132 m2/g surface area and sago palm bark activated carbon which activated by sodium carbonat ratio 1:2 has the optimum result with 2.56% water content, 5.68% ash content, 566.23 mg/g adsorption of iodine, 9.2 mg/g adsorption of methylene blue and 34.11 m2/g surface area.
