Refined palm stem fiber can be used as a constituent of biopelet. Palm
fiber fiber which is chopped on a commercial chopper still has problems in the
blunt part of the blade and the results obtained have not been reached to the
maximum. So that the design and manufacture of a palm oil chopper machine with
a design capacity of 10 kg / hour is aimed at: (1) obtaining a design picture of a
palm oil chopping machine with a design capacity of 10 kg / hour. (2) obtain an
oil palm trunk chopping machine with a design capacity of 10 kg / hour. The
process of designing an oil palm chopping machine is carried out in stages,
namely: an experiment to find out the strength of an oil palm trunk, product
concept planning (working drawings), design of the machine elements. The source
of the engine drive is a 1 HP AC electric motor with a rotation of 1400 rpm. The
transmission system uses a belt with a drive shaft of 16 mm in diameter. Frame
construction using 40x40x3 elbow profile steel. Blade uses 5 mm thick L6 steel,
and the casing uses plates with a thickness of 3 mm. This oil palm chopper can
chop up palm oil palm with width x height (20 mm x 20 mm) in 15 minutes
producing an average of 2050 gr or 2.05 kg equivalent to 8.2 kg / hour, from the
results of chopped fibers. so it was concluded that this machine is capable of
chopping palm stems.
