Depolimerisasi Lateks Karet Alam Menggunakan Katalis Cocl2 Dengan Variasi Kadar Cocl2 Dan Waktu Reaksi
ABSTRACT
Liquid Natural Rubber (LNR) is a product of natural rubber latex depolymerization process whose molecular weight specifications are influenced by several factors. There are CoCl2 catalyst content and depolymerization reaction time. This study aims to synthesize Liquid Natural Rubber (LNR) and study about variations of CoCl2 catalyst levels and reaction time effect to the molecular weight of the resulting LNR. The first treatments had several steps, there were including dilution of natural rubber latex from cutting of rubber trees into natural rubber latex with dry rubber content (DRC) 20%. After that, the process of depolymerization was continued using CoCl2 catalyst which varied the levels of CoCl2 to 1; 3 dan 5 phr, reaction times 7, 8 and 9 hours, 250 rpm of stirring speed and 70 ºC of temperature. The final step of LNR purification was using methanol, toluene and oven at 70ºC of temperature. The LNR products were obtained in liquid and semi-gel phase. The LNR has functional groups and structures that conform to the LNR specifications. The number molecular weight of LNR with variations catalyst levels decreased significantly, from 1,384,638 g/mol to 108,354 g/mol. While number molecular weight of LNR with variations reaction time, did not significant difference for each additional reaction time.
