Kultivasi Mikroalga Chlorella Sp. Secara Fedbatch Menggunakan Limbah Pome Untuk Produks Lipid Dengan Penambahan Gliserol
Microalgae is a promising source of raw materials for renewable energy that can
produce biodiesel. Microalgae lipid content is an important parameter that
influences the feasibility of using microalgae for biodiesel production. Media and
nutrition are important factors that influence the growth and lipid content of
microalgae. This study aims to determine the effect of increasing the volume of
POME waste on the growth and lipid content of microalgae that are cultivated using
POME waste media. Microalgae are cultivated by adding glycerol-modified organic
carbon nutrition with variations in the addition of the volume of POME waste added
per time ie 0.45 liters every 1 day, 0.9 liters every 2 days, and 1.35 liters every 3
days. Microalgae growth was calculated with a glass object, the amount of cell
density in each area of the box was calculated using a thomacytometer with the help
of a hand counter observed under a light microscope. Microalgae lipid content was
obtained using the Bligh-Dyer method. The results showed that the value of the
specific growth rate of microalgae Chlorella sp. the highest is 0.095 / day obtained
for each addition of 3-day POME waste. The highest lipid content of 43.221% was
obtained with each addition of 1 day POME waste. When the growth conditions are
not favorable for microalgae, microalgae will accumulate more lipids so that it
becomes an environmental pressure that can increase the lipid content of microalgae.
The highest allowance for COD was highest with the addition of POME every 3 days,
640 mg / mL.
