Pembuatan Karbon Aktif Dari Pelepah Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Aktivator H2o Sebagai Adsorben
Has been successfully is made activated carbon of starting materials oil palm
midrib with carbonization temperature variation of 400°C, 500°C and 600°C and
each of held for 20, 40 and 60 minutes. Activation be physics conducted at a
temperature of 900 ° C for 20, 40, and 60 minutes to draining water vapor as
activating agent. This research aims to know the characteristics of oil palm midrib
as activated carbon through content analysis of mass shrinkage, proximate and
ultimate test, activated carbon absorptive capacity toward iodine value and
rendemen. After carbonization process the best results is at carbonization
temperature of 600°C for 60 minutes with levels of heavy depreciation for 70%,
water content 3.7%, and ash content of 7.8%. At activation temperature of 900°C
for 60 minutes produces carbon content 51.02%, 2.8% hydrogen, 40.85% oxygen,
and sulfur is not detected, and analysis results of iodine value 398 mg / g is higher
nearly 200% of that applied by the Indonesian Industrial Standard, and the yield
of 31, 5%.
